VRChem Industrial Platform
VRChem Industrial Platform is a comprehensive virtual reality (VR) educational platform developed collaboratively by the project partners to support modern education in chemical and process engineering. The platform consists of three complementary VR applications designed to explore the key aspects of chemical engineering in immersive virtual environments. Each application focuses on a different area of engineering education—from industrial plant exploration and spatial analysis, through P&ID diagram training, to practical industrial inspection and measurement tasks. Together, these applications provide students with an engaging, safe, and interactive learning experience, enabling them to develop practical engineering skills and gain a deeper understanding of industrial processes and chemical plant design.
APP 1 – VRChem Industrial Training

VR application supports students training in industrial environments by enabling measurement of equipment, pipelines, and installations, as well as analysis of chemical plant spaces. It allows identification of key equipment, improves spatial orientation, and supports inspection and planning of plant layouts. The system also enables preparation of logistics reports for equipment replacement in chemical installations, enhancing analytical and planning skills in a virtual environment.
APP 2 – VRChem P&ID Trainer

VR application supports students in developing the P&ID diagram reading skills and understanding of process system logic through interactive training in simulated chemical installations. The system enables procedural tasks based on P&ID diagrams, while integrated web-based supervision and evaluation tools support progress monitoring and practical learning in a safe virtual environment. It provides a realistic and repeatable learning experience, enhancing practical competencies without the limitations of physical laboratory access.
APP 3 – VRChem Plant Explorer

VR application enables students to explore industrial facilities in immersive virtual environments created from models imported from different engineering software. The system provides interactive tools for measurements, annotations, and visualization under various environmental conditions, such as different lighting, fog, and night mode. Students can identify design errors, inspect the scale and arrangement of chemical engineering equipment, and verify industrial plant designs in a realistic 3D environment, supporting a deeper understanding of engineering projects and installation layouts.
